Stockman's 20 kills led the Shockers to a 3-1 win at Creighton. The Shockers won by scores of 25-16, 22-25,
27-25 and 25-23. Stockman also added 17
digs, four aces and four blocks in the contest.
The first set went back-and-forth until the Shockers grabbed
a 15-12 lead off of a kill by Emily Stockman.
A block by Sarah McGee increased the lead to 19-13 and WSU won 25-16 on
a kill by Mary Elizabeth Hooper. The
Shockers ended the set on a 12-4 run.
The Bluejays jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the second set. The Shockers pulled to within 14-10 after a
block by Stephanie Tokarz and again made it close at 23-21, but CU won the set
25-22. WSU committed 12 hitting errors
in the set.
The teams traded points in the third set until back-to-back
service aces by Stockman gave the Shockers a 12-8 lead. The Bluejays pulled to within 21-19 on back-to-back
kills and tied it at 23 on a kill by Jessica Houts. Back-to-back kills by Stockman gave the
Shocks the 27-25 win.
CU took an early 8-6 lead in the fourth set, but a McGee
kill gave the Shocks a 15-14 lead. The
set continued to go back-and-forth until a Stockman ace gave the Shocks a 24-22
lead. WSU won the set 25-23 on a kill by
Angela Jakubov.
Mary Elizabeth Hooper had 48 assists, nine kills and six
digs for the Shocks, while Kelly Broussard had 21 digs.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Oct. 3 at home
against Illinois State.
