Box Score PULLMAN, Wash. ? The Shockers won their third-straight
tournament with a sweep over Montana State in the Cougar Volleyball
Challenge. WSU (11-0) won by scores of
25-18, 25-16 and 25-22.
The Shockers jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the first set and
increased it to 16-8 on a kill by Katie Niggemeyer. The Bobcats pulled to within 18-16 before the
Shockers put the set away 25-18.
In the second set, the teams went back and forth until a
kill by Emily Stockman gave WSU a 10-7 lead.
WSU never looked back in the 25-16 win.
MSU grabbed an early 4-0 lead in the third set before the
Shockers came back to tie it at 10 on a Bobcat hitting error. WSU continued to lead by taking a 19-14 lead
on a kill by Angela Jakubov and won the set 25-22 on a kill by Amanda Backes.
Emily Stockman led the Shockers with 12 kills and 14 digs,
while Angela Jakubov added 10 kills, while hitting .476. Mary Elizabeth Hooper totaled 40 assists,
while Melissa Granville added 14 digs.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Sept. 19 against
Missouri State.
