ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- Wichita State (9-22) wrapped up its 2007-08 season with a 75-45 loss to UNI (13-17) in the opening round of the 2008 State Farm MVC Tournament at The Family Arena.

Daria Frazier led the Shockers with 12 points, while three Panthers finished in double figures on the night,

Valley freshman of the year Jacqui Kalin showed why she was voted one of the Valley's best, scoring UNI's first eight points to help produce a game-opening 11-2 run following an Erin Brocka 3-pointer with 15:37 left in the first half.

Junior Daria Frazier scored half of Wichita State's points over the first eight points but spent the rest of the half on the bench after picking up her third foul with 12 minutes left in the first.

UNI promptly answered with back-to-back 3-pointers from Nicole Clausen, part of a 10-0 UNI run that extended the Panthers' lead to 25-8 following a Brocka jumnper at the 8:41 mark of the opening stanza. The Panthers used a stingy defense and a speedy transition game to lead by as many as 28 down the stretch, taking a 43-18 lead into the break.

The Shockers shot just 18-percent from the field in the first half while the Panthers sizzled, shooting 52-percent from the floor including six 3-pointers and a 55-percent clip from the arc in the opening half.

The Panthers drained back-to-back 3-pointers to open the second half, breaking out to a 49-17 lead, and never looked back, stretching the lead to as many as 35 over the course of the final 18 minutes.

Kiki Stephens' five points moved her into third on the all-time scoring list, passing former Shocker Kim Evans, and finishing her career with 1489 points.
