Broussard Sets MVC Record in Win Over BU

PEORIA, Ill. ? The Shockers clinched the Missouri Valley Conference title outright with a win over Bradley, while senior libero Kelly Broussard became the all-time MVC leader in digs. WSU (27-0, 16-0) won by scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-17. Broussard had 14 digs and now has 2,106 for her career.

With their 27th win, the Shockers also set a school record for longest winning streak at 27 matches. The 2005 team had the previous record of 26-straight wins.

Emily Stockman led the Shockers with 13 kills, while Mary Elizabeth Hooper added 29 assists.

A service ace by Emily Stockman gave the Shockers an early 7-3 lead in the first set and a kill by Lindsey Eckenrode increased it to 18-12. WSU won the set 25-14 on a kill by Stockman.

The Shockers raced out to a 6-1 lead in the second set after a kill by Amanda Backes and a kill by Katie Niggemeyer put the Shocks up 14-6. WSU cruised to a 25-16 win in the second set.

WSU ran out to a 13-6 lead in the third set and never looked back in the 25-17 win.

The Shockers are next in action on Sat., Nov. 15 at UNI.
