Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. ? The Shockers improved to 23-0 overall and 12-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 3-1 win over Indiana State. WSU won by scores of 25-14, 19-25, 25-17 and 25-18.
The Sycamores jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first set, but the Shockers rallied to take a 6-5 lead after a service ace by Emily Stockman. WSU increased it to 13-7 after an ace by Amanda Backes and won the set 25-14 after an ace by Kelly Broussard.
WSU took an early 3-0 lead in the second set, but the Sycamores came back to take a 7-5 lead and never looked back in a 25-19 win.
Another ace by Backes put the Shocks up 15-10 in the third set and a Stockman kill gave WSU an 18-13 advantage. The Shockers increased the lead to 20-14 after an ace by Mary Elizabeth Hooper and won the set 25-17 on a Stockman kill.
The teams went back-and-forth in the fourth set until the Shockers went up 14-11 after an ISU hitting error. WSU increased the lead to 20-15 after a kill by Lindsey Eckenrode and won the set 25-18.
Emily Stockman led the Shockers with 14 kills and 17 digs, while Amanda Backes chipped in 12 kills and three aces. Mary Elizabeth Hooper had 42 assists and Kelly Broussard had 14 digs.
The Shockers are next in action on Sat., Nov. 1 at Illinois State.
