Box Score CARBONDALE, Ill. ? Wichita State broke the Missouri Valley Conference record for consecutive MVC road wins with its 33rd-straight win. The Shockers (18-0, 7-0) swept the Salukis by scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-21.
SIU took an early lead in the first set, but the Shockers scored seven-straight to take a 14-8 lead. The Salukis responded by pulling to within 15-14 on a kill by Chandra Roberson. The teams traded points until the Shocks took a 25-23 win.
The second set went back-and-forth until the Shockers grabbed a 12-9 lead on a kill by Emily Stockman. A kill by Lindsey Eckenrode increased the lead to 17-11 and WSU went on to win the set 25-17.
The Shockers took an 11-7 lead in the third set and an SIU service error put the Shocks up 20-16. SIU pulled to within 21-20 on a kill by Jennifer Berwanger, but WSU held on to win 25-21.
Stockman led the Shockers with 18 kills and also added 11 digs, while hitting .349. Mary Elizabeth Hooper had 35 assists, six kills and nine digs, while Kelly Broussard had 19 digs.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Oct. 17 against UNI in Charles Koch Arena.
