Box Score WICHITA, Kan. ? Wichita State (8-4) hit .375 as a team en route to a sweep of UMKC (3-12) in non-conference volleyball action. The Shockers won by scores of 30-10, 30-22 and 30-16.
Lindsey Eckenrode led the Shockers with 10 kills, while Abby Harsh had 35 assists and Kelly Broussard had 14 digs.
The Shockers raced out to a 5-0 lead in game one behind the serving of Emily Stockman. WSU increased the lead to 18-7 on a Kangaroo ball handling error and reached game point 29-10 on a kill by Sara Lungren. WSU won game one 30-10 on a service ace by Melissa Granville.
Game two went back-and-forth early until the Shockers pulled ahead 15-8. A kill by Lindsey Eckenrode gave WSU a 20-13 lead and the Shocks won the game 30-22 on a kill by Stockman.
UMKC took an early 4-3 lead in game three, but the Shockers responded with a 6-0 run keyed by the serving of Stockman to take a 9-4 lead. Abby Harsh served seven-straight to increase the lead to 17-8 and the Shockers won 30-16 after a Kangaroo service error.
The Shockers next play at Illinois State and Indiana State this weekend.
