WICHITA, Kan. ? Wichita State baseball student-athlete
Noah Krol
has been named to the midseason watch list for the third annual
National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year
Award, the association announced April 19. The award will be
given to the top relief pitcher in Division I college baseball.
Krol, a senior right-handed pitcher from Nickerson, Kan., is 0-1 with a
1.10 ERA and eight saves in 2007. He also has 18 strikeouts in
16.1 innings pitched.
The list features 40 players from 20 conferences. Other players
from the Missouri Valley Conference include Andy Masten of Creighton
and Matt Brinkmann of Evansville.
At the end of the regular-season, the Division I leader in saves and
four other relief pitching standouts will be selected as the award's
finalists. These finalists will be released on Wed., May 30.
From the list of finalists, the NCBWA's All-America Committee will
select a winner. The third annual winner will be announced on
Wed., June 6.
