DES MOINES, Iowa- Wichita State ended its season at 9-20, 4-15 in the Missouri Valley Conference, after the Drake Bulldogs defeated the Shockers, 78-63, in the first round of the MVC Tournament Thursday night in Des Moines, Iowa at the Drake Knapp Center.

 

Wichita State shot 64 percent in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early 42-23 deficit of the first frame.

 

Kiki Stephens led the Shockers with 17 points and five rebounds. Antionette Wells chipped in 12.

 

Lindsay Whorton had a game-high 26 points. Lauren Dybing and Monique' Jones added 15 and 13, respectively. Tori Runner brought down nine boards.

 

Drake out rebounded the Shockers 33-26 overall and out shot Wichita State 46.4 to 38.5 percent in the first half. The Bulldogs scored 21 of their points off of turnovers, compared to WSU's 10. 21 of Drake's points came from offensive rebounds and Wichita State had eight second chance points.
