WICHITA, Kan.- Wichita State (21-5, 3-0) swept a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series with Indiana State (9-10, 0-3) by winning game three 12-3 on Sunday afternoon.

Tyler Weber tied a Wichita State record for consecutive hits by going 10-for-10 in official at bats since Wednesday. The junior catcher went 2-for-2 today with two walks, a run and an RBI. Weber was one of five Shockers with two hits in the game. Matt Brown and Tyler Hill each had three-run homeruns and Derek Schermerhorn picked up two RBI. Damon Sublett extended his hitting streak to 21 games in a 1-for-4 performance.

Andrew Strange, Dave Brumagin and Brett Siegmund each went 2-for-4 for the Sycamores. Brumagin had two RBI and Ryan Bond contributed the other one.

Indiana State's Chris Schmidt laid a bunt down the third base line and reached safely on the hit to lead off the ball game. Two Shocker errors put Strange at second and advanced Schmidt to third. A ground ball from Bond made the miscues costly as one run crossed. Brumagin made it 3-0 with his second homerun of the season over left field.

Wichita State manufactured a run in the bottom of the second to cut the lead 3-1. Conor Gillaspie doubled to the gap in left-center field and moved to third on a ground out by Andy Dirks. Weber plated the run on a sacrifice fly to right field.

With one out in the third, Josh Workman flew one over the left fielder's head for a triple. Back-to-back singles by Schermerhorn and Sublett brought one in and put two aboard. Brown gave the Shockers their first lead of the game, 5-3, with a three-run homerun to left-center field.

The Sycamores threatened in the top of the fourth, loading the bases on a double, single and walk. A double play got runners out at home and first and a fly ball to right field ended the inning, the Shockers unscathed.

Wichita State added three in the bottom of the fifth. Dirks and Weber drew consecutive walks before Hill hit a homerun toward right-center field, the junior's second of the year.

WSU made it 9-3 when Dirks scored on a wild pitch in the sixth. The junior transfer reached on a fielder's choice and singles from Weber and Hill advanced the runner.

With two outs in the seventh, WSU pounded out three consecutive singles by Brown, Gillaspie and Dirks to cross two more, opening the lead to 11-3.

Dusty Coleman was hit by a pitch in the eighth, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Schermerhorn.
