Box Score LINCOLN, Neb. ? Defending national champion Nebraska (29-1)
ended Wichita State's season with a sweep over the Shockers in the second round
of the 2007 NCAA Tournament. NU won by
scores of 30-22, 30-19 and 30-19. The
Shockers finish the season with a 27-6 record.
Sara Lungren led the Shockers with 12 kills and also had
nine digs, while Abby Harsh finished with 27 assists and nine digs and Kelly
Broussard had 12 digs.
The teams went back-and-forth in game one until the Huskers
went up 9-6 after a Shocker hitting error.
NU increased it to 13-9 after a kill by Sarah Pavan and to 16-11 after
an ace by Jordan Larson. Back-to-back
kills by Sara Lungren pulled the Shockers to within 14-17 and a Husker
ballhandling error put WSU down one at 16-17.
The teams traded points until the Huskers went up 25-21 on a Larson
ace. NU won the game 30-22.
The Huskers raced out to a 3-0 lead in game two, but a kill
by Lindsey Eckenrode pulled the Shocks to within 4-3. The teams went back-and-forth until a Shocker
hitting error gave NU a 15-11 lead. The
Huskers pulled away to win 30-19.
The Shockers jumped out to a 4-1 lead in game three and
increased it to 6-2 after a Husker hitting error. NU came back to tie it at seven and took a
9-7 lead after back-to-back blocks. Back-to-back
aces by Larson increased the Husker lead to 17-11 and NU went on to win 30-19.
