Box Score OMAHA, Neb. ? Wichita State (15-4, 7-1) moved into first-place in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with a sweep of Creighton (13-6, 7-1). The Shockers won by scores of 30-26, 30-24 and 30-18.
Emily Stockman led the Shockers with 16 kills, while Stephanie Tokarz added 12. Abby Harsh had 43 assists for WSU, while Melissa Granville had 20 digs.
The teams went back-and-forth in game one until Creighton took a 19-15 lead on back-to-back service aces by Lauren Bloemke. The Shockers pulled to within 21-22 on back-to-back kills by Lindsey Eckenrode and then tied it at 22 on a kill by Abby Harsh. Back-to-back CU hitting errors gave WSU a 25-23 lead and a kill by Angela Jakubov increased it to 26-23. WSU won game one 30-26 on a kill by Stephanie Tokarz.
The Bluejays took an early 4-1 lead in game two, but the Shockers came back to tie it at four. The teams traded points until WSU took a 20-17 lead on a kill by Jakubov. A Tokarz kill increased the lead to 24-18, but CU pulled to within 28-24 with a kill. A kill by Sara Lungren brought the Shockers to game point at 29-24 and a kill by Jakubov ended the game with a 30-24 WSU win.
A block by Tokarz gave the Shockers an early 12-9 advantage in game three and increased it to 21-16 on a kill by Jakubov. WSU continued to lead the rest of the way and took a 30-18 win after a kill by Emily Stockman.
The Shockers next play at Drake on Saturday at 7 p.m.
