Box Score WICHITA, Kan. ? Wichita State (25-6, 15-3) finished the regular-season with a sweep of Indiana State (5-25, 1-17). The Shockers won by scores of 30-19, 30-18 and 30-28.
Angela Jakubov led the Shockers with 12 kills on the evening, while Abby Harsh led WSU with 30 assists. Kelly Broussard posted a team-high 14 digs. Indiana State's Kelli Whitaker led all players with 13 kills while Stacy Secrest led all players with 32 assists. Kristy Cox posted a game-high 17 digs for the Sycamores.
The Shockers limited the Sycamores to a .120 hitting percentage on the night, while WSU hit .191 on the evening. WSU recorded 11 team blocks to Indiana State's two.
A Sara Lungren ace gave the Shockers a 12-7 lead in game one and a kill by Angela Jakubov increased it to 16-10. WSU continued to cruise in game one taking a 23-13 advantage on an ace by Melissa Granville. The Shockers won the game 30-19 on an ace by Abby Harsh.
WSU jumped out to a 13-8 lead in game two after a Jakubov kill and increased it to 19-10 on a kill by Harsh. An ace by Harsh gave WSU a 27-14 advantage and the Shockers won 30-18 on a kill by Jakubov.
The teams raced out to a 12-12 tie in game three before the Shockers grabbed a 21-19 lead on a kill by Lungren. The Sycamores pulled to within 25-24 on a kill by Jodi Stoker, but Jakubov answered with a kill for a 26-24 advantage. A Shocker hitting error tied the game at 28, but a kill by Stephanie Tokarz brought the Shockers to match point at 29-28. WSU won game three 30-28 on a Shocker miscue.
The Shockers are now finished with the regular-season and will play in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in Normal, Ill., Nov. 24-25. WSU opens play on Nov. 24 as the No. 2 seed at 7:30 p.m.
