Willie Schwanke

Willie Schwanke

Willie Schwanke is in his second season as volunteer assistant coach for the Shockers.
 
Schwanke played for the Shockers from 2015-17 after playing at Arkansas in 2013 and Grayson College in 2014.
 
During his playing days at Wichita State, he made 23 appearances on the mound with a 7-7 record and 3.95 ERA. As a position player, he hit .284 with 42 hits, 20 runs, 10 doubles, four triples, two home runs and 19 RBI. He earned honorable mention all-Valley Scholar-Athlete honors in 2017 and in 2015, he was drafted in the 22nd round by the Milwaukee Brewers.
 
He played his sophomore season at Grayson College in 2014 and hit .327 with 55 hits, 15 doubles, six home runs and 45 RBI. He also made 11 appearances on the mound with a 4.64 ERA.
 
In 2013, he played his freshman season at Arkansas and played in 31 games, while hitting .214 with nine runs, 15 hits, one home run and five RBI.
 
Schwanke, who is a native of Frisco, Texas, earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Wichita State in December of 2016 and is currently working on a master’s degree.
