WICHITA, Kan. – The majority of the Wichita State track and field program is traveling to Lubbock, Texas, to compete in the Corky/Crofoot Shootout on Friday, April 26.

For the third consecutive season the Shockers will compete in the Texas Tech Corky/Crofoot Shootout, along with Texas Tech and Nebraska in the scored triangular.

Women's javelin kicks things off at 11:00 a.m., followed by men's javelin. The gun goes off for running events with the start of the women's 3000m steeplechase at 5:00 p.m.

NATIONAL MARKS
Six Shockers currently rank in the top-50 nationally in their respective events, including senior
Aaron True with the top ranking at No. 3 in the javelin with a mark of 75.33m/247-2. Three other Shockers rank in the top-20,
Rebekah Topham No. 15 in the 3000m steeplechase (10:09.94),
Austin Corley No. 17 in 400m hurdles (50.90) and
Rayvon Allen No. 18 in long jump (7.75m/25-5.25).

SQUAD GOALS
In the latest USTFCCCA national event squad rankings, the Shocker track and field program is ranked top-10 in four events. The men's team is No. 5 in javelin and decathlon, while the long jump group is No. 10. The Shocker women's heptathlon group moved up one spot to No. 3 in the nation.

TRUE TABBED ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
For the third time in five weeks,
Aaron True was named Male Field Athlete of the Week. True on the 92nd Kansas Relays javelin competition on April 20 with a season best throw of 75.33m/247-2, his mark is No. 3 in the nation and No. 1 in the American Athletic Conference.

SHOCKER LEADERS
Cory Martens,
Winny Koskei and
Claudia Rojo each lead the Shockers in three events. Martens leads in the shot put (16.79m/55-1), discus (52.43m/172-0) and hammer (61.41m/201-6). Koskei leads in three distance races, including 3000m (9:40.68), 5000m (16:23.65) and 10,000m (33:50.68), while Rojo leads in heptathlon (4,973), 100m hurdles (14.30) and long jump (5.83m/19-1.5).

ALL-TIME TOP-10 MARKS
Wichita State has recorded 17 Shocker all-time top-10 marks, including 13 individual marks and four relays.
Winny Koskei set a school record on March 22, winning the Herm Wilson Invitational 3000m with a time of 9:40.68. The record was previously held for 31-years by Kathryn Evans.

LAST YEAR IN LUBBOCK
The Shockers recorded 22 personal records in the quadrangular between Texas Tech, Kansas State and Nebraska. The men placed third with 122 points, while the women finished fourth with 112 points.
Kendra Henry was the only Shocker athlete to record three personal bests, while
Alexi Whatley,
Amanda Kakoulias and
Richard Sandefur each set two personal bests.

LOOKING AT TEXAS TECH
The men's team started the 2019 outdoor season ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCCA pre-season polls and has remained there ever since, while the women's team began the season ranked No. 14 they have dropped to No. 28 in the most recent polls. The Red Raiders men's team boasts five national top-10 event squad rankings, including No. 1 in 100m and triple jump. The Red Raider's women's team ranks No. 5 in the long jump, No. 6 in 100m hurdles and No. 8 in 100m.

Texas Tech men's team has a combined seven top-5 national individual marks and one relay. Most recently, junior sprinter Divine Oduduru recorded world leads in the 100m and 200m, both within the same hour at the Michael Johnson Invitational on April 20. Â In the same meet, sophomore hurdler Norman Grimes ran an NCAA leading time of 49.75 in the 400m hurdles and javelin thrower Werner Bouwer recorded the nation's fifth best mark of the 2019 season with a throw of 74.07m/243-0.

The Red Raiders women's team has two individual marks ranked nationally in the top-10, including Zarriea Willis with the No. 2 high jump mark of 1.85m/6-0.75. Teammate Alaysha Johnson is No. 9 in the 100m hurdles clockin in at 12.99. Both athletes recorded their top-10 marks at the Michael Johnson Invitational.

LOOKING AT NEBRASKA
Nebraska boasts national top-50 team rankings on both the men's (No. 40) and women's side (No. 47), as well as top-5 rankings in the Midwest with the men's team currently No. 2 and the women's team No. 5. The Cornhuskers men's team currently ranks top-10 in the most recent event squad rankings in four events, No. 3 in the high jump and discus, No. 5 in pole vault and No. 9 in shot put. The women's team ranks No. 3 in discus and No. 4 in javelin.

Jasmine Barge leads the women's team on the track with the 10th fastest 400m hurdles time in the nation clocking in at 57.82, the senior earned all-american honors in 2017 finishing 16th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.24. Chase Wolinski leads the Cornhuskers with the 10th best throw in the javelin landing at 53.96m/177-0. Despite the men's team not having an individual with a national top-10 mark, the Cornhuskers have 15 top-10 marks and nine in the top-20.
