WICHITA, Kan.- For the second-consecutive year, Wichita State women's basketball head coach Jody Adams has been named the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year, the organization announced today.
In her sixth season at the helm of the program, Adams led the 2013-14 Shockers to their second straight Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and post-season titles, while collecting a school record 26 wins and earning a berth into the NCAA Tournament for the second-consecutive season.
The Shockers also earned the program's first-ever national ranking, entering the USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll on Feb. 11, 2014 at No. 24. WSU had the best start to the conference season in program history (12-0) and did not lose a game in December (6-0) or January (8-0).
Wichita State also showed their offensive prowess, scoring the most points as a team in Shocker history with 2,346 and led the MVC in scoring offense (71.1), scoring margin (13.8) and field goal percentage (.443). The Shockers continued to be a force on the defensive end as well, leading the conference in scoring defense (57.3), steals (10.0) and turnover margin (6.45).
The KBCA will announce all of their awards on Sat., June 28 at 1:30 p.m. in Sams Chapel on the campus of Kansas Wesleyan University.
