FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- The No. 69 Wichita State men's tennis
team defeated No. 65 Southern Mississippi, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon.
The Shockers got on the board early by taking the very
important doubles point from the Golden Eagles. No. 72 David Cavalcanti and
Matheus Pereira defeated Matt Frost and Inaki Belloso of Southern Miss, 8-2,
and Juan Estenssoro and Erick Reyes defeated Andrew Goodwin and Michael
Elortegui of Southern Miss, 8-2, to put Wichita State up, 1-0.
The success continued in the singles competition. The
Shockers won five out of six matches to put away the Golden Eagles.
The Shocker men are back in action when they travel to Gulf Shores, Ala. to take on South Alabama and Troy on March
23 and 24, respectively.
