Shockers Travel to Arkansas Last Chance Meet

WICHITA, Kan. — Four Wichita State track & field student-athletes travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the Arkansas Last Chance meet Friday, March 2.

The meet gives student-athletes one last opportunity to improve their event times and marks in hopes of making the NCAA Indoor Championships, held March 9-10 in Nampa, Idaho.

Seniors Todd McKown, Lawson Montgomery, Dylan Hartnett and Audacia Moore will run in the meet that starts at noon Friday at the University of Arkansas Randal Tyson Track Center.

McKown and Montgomery will run in the men's 60-meter hurdles. Hartnett will compete in the men's 200 meters and Moore in the women's 200 meters.

Typically, the nation's top 16 athletes in each event advance to the NCAA meet. Shocker junior Aliphine Tuliamuk automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the women's 5,000 meters earlier this season.

McKown won the men's 60-meter hurdles title at the MVC Indoor Championships last weekend in Cedar Falls, Iowa. His season-best time of 7.89 ranks tied for 41st on the 2011-12 NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifier List. His personal best is 7.85, which ranks second all-time at WSU.

Montgomery ran a personal best 7.88 in the event at the SPIRE NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Invitational and ranks tied for 36th overall on the national qualifying list. He finished second to McKown in the event at the MVC Indoor Championships.

Moore ran a season-best 24.62 at the Varsity Apartments Invitational earlier this season in the 200 meters. Her personal best time in the event is 24.13, which is the current WSU school record.

Hartnett's top time of the season in the 200 meters came at the MVC Indoor Championships. He won the event in a personal best 21.69. The 200-meter time ranks fourth in the Midwest Region this season and among Wichita State's all-time top 10.

The men's 60-meter hurdles race is scheduled to begin with preliminaries at 5:15 p.m. and the final at 6:40 p.m. The women's 200 meters begins at 7:15 p.m., followed by the men's 200 meters at 7:30 p.m.
