WICHITA, Kan.- For the second consecutive year and just the fourth time in program
history, the Wichita State women's basketball team will make a postseason
appearance, this time in the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) on Wed.,
March 16, as it travels up the state to face the University of Kansas.
Tipoff time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

It
will be the first meeting between WSU and Kansas since Dec. 11, 2002 when the
Shockers handed the Jayhawks an 84-58 defeat in Wichita. The Shockers trail in the all-time
series, however, with a 7-30 record against KU. Wichita State has not won in Allen Fieldhouse since a 90-68
victory on Dec. 6, 1982.
The
Shockers have won six of their last seven games and reached the Missouri Valley
Conference semi-finals with a 58-52 win over Creighton. Wichita State enters the WNIT with a
17-14 overall record, which includes a 10-8 mark in the MVC - the program's
best record since the 1999-00 season.
WSU
last made the WNIT in 2001, falling in the first round to Arkansas. The
Shockers claimed the program's first-ever post-season tournament win with a
67-61 victory over Akron in the inaugural Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI)
last season.
