| Wichita State to Host 2024 Softball AAC Championship |
The tournament will come to Wichita for the first time as a member of the American. Wichita State hasn't hosted a conference tournament since 2015 when the Shockers were still in the Missouri Valley Conference.

| McKinney Takes Home AAC Player of the Week Honors |

The Norborne, Mo., native hit .571 in four games last week, racking up a home run, two doubles, four RBI and nine runs scored. McKinney had back-to-back games with three hits, and recorded her first career grand slam in Wichita State's 14-0 win vs. South Florida on Saturday.

April 2, 1954 - Jim Strathe throws a five-hitter in a 6-3 win over Kansas State at West Side Athletic Field. The Wildcats win the opening game of the doubleheader 3-1.
April 2, 1964 - The University of Wichita names Gary Thompson basketball coach, three days after the resignation of coach Ralph Miller. Thompson, 31, played for the Shockers from 1951-54 and served as Miller's assistant from 1957 until the promotion.
April 2, 1997 - With the bases loaded in the ninth, closer Marc Bluma strikes out a hitter and ends the game with a groundball out in a 9-5 win over Kansas at Eck Stadium.
April 2, 2006 - Freshman pitcher Aaron Shafer holds Creighton two hits over seven innings in a 3-1 win at the CU Sports Complex. Shafer strikes out eight and doesn't allow a runner until Darin Ruf's two-out single in the fifth.
April 3, 1976 - Former Shocker Randy Smith win the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a meet record time of 8 minutes, 31.4 seconds. Wichita State junior Bob Christensen finishes second with a time of 8:32.9.
April 3, 2002 - The Shockers defeat Kansas State 9-5 for their 11th win over the Wildcats in 12 meetings. Mark Johnson's two-run single gives No. 8 Wichita State a 7-5 lead, part of a 3-for-5 night that also included a double and a triple.
April 3, 2021 - Bailey Lange throws a three-hitter in a 5-0 win at Memphis. Madison Perrigan and Addison Barnard homer for the Shockers.
April 4, 2010 - Catcher Chris O'Brien hits a grand slam in the first inning in a 17-2 run-rule win at Evansville that gives coach Gene Stephenson win No. 1,700.
April 6, 2013 - Louisville defeats Wichita State 72-68 in the Final Four in Atlanta. Cleanthony Early leads the Shockers with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Carl Hall adds 13 points and five rebounds for WSU (30-9).
April 6, 2019 - Wichita State scores three runs in the 10th inning to defeat UCF 6-3 in Orlando. Madison Perrigan doubles in a run and Laurie Derrico follows with a two-run home run.
April 7, 2019 - Madison Perrigan's home run in the sixth inning gives the Shockers a 2-1 win at UCF. Erin McDonald holds the Knights to three hits.
April 8, 1982 - Loren Hibbs singles and homers to extend his hitting streak to 26 games in a 15-0 win over New Mexico State at Shocker Field. Phil Stephenson hits his 13th home run of the season.
