Dec. 11, 1961 - 6-foot-10 Gene Wiley records 15 blocks - still the school record - and adds 12 points and 13 rebounds to record the first "triple-double" in Shocker history during a 71-68 win at No. 6 Purdue. It is the first of three triple-doubles for Wiley that season.
Dec. 12, 1955- The Shockers notch their first victory at the Roundhouse, defeating Nebraska 71-46. Bob Hodgson leads the way with 25 points.
Dec. 12, 1968 - WSU spoils former head coach Ralph Miller's homecoming, upending his 19th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes, 93-88. Ron Washington (30 points) and Greg Carney (23) lead the Shockers.
Dec. 12, 2014 - Alex Harden scores 22 points to help Wichita State defeat Kansas State 51-48 in front of 3,536 fans at Koch Arena.
Dec. 14, 2013 - WSU defeats Tennessee, 70-61, at INTRUST Bank Arena to record the first 10-0 start in program history. Tekele Cotton makes 9 of 11 free throws and scores 19 points for the Shockers. Darius Carter comes off the bench to grab 14 rebounds and add 11 points.
Dec. 15, 2020 - Wichita State makes 10 of 27 three-pointers and guard Alterique Gilbert scores 13 points to lift the Shockers over Tulsa 69-65 at Reynolds Center.
Dec. 17, 1932 - The Shockers open the basketball season with a 29-27 win over Kansas State in Wichita in the first meeting of the two schools.
Dec. 17, 1955 - Coach John Wooden brings UCLA to Wichita and the Shockers hand the Bruins a 76-68 defeat in the first meeting between the schools. Bob Hodgson scores 25 points to lead the Shockers and Joe Stevens adds 14 in front of 7,329 fans at what was then called the University of Wichita Field House.
