Dec. 4, 1951 - Coach Ralph Miller wins his first game as Shocker coach with a 93-59 victory over Baylor at Henrion Gymnasium.
Dec. 4, 1961 - Lanny Van Eman makes all 11 of his shots and both free throws to score 24 points in a 78-54 win over Nebraska.
Dec. 4, 2015 - Abbie Lehman's 20 kills and four blocks lead the Shockers past Kansas State 3-1 (25-22, 17-25, 25-18, 25-20) in the NCAA Tournament inLincoln, Neb.
Dec. 4, 1980 - Wichita State's women's basketball team defeats Stanford 71-68 in the Roadrunner Classic in Las Cruces, N.M. Mary Kennedy leads the Shockers with 16 points and Terry O'Bryon adds nine points, 13 rebounds and four assists. Wichita State trails by 12 points at halftime before outscoring Stanford 40-25 in the second half.
Dec. 5, 2001 - Troy Mack scores 20 points and grabs 10 rebounds to help the Shockers win 65-56 at Kansas State.
Dec. 8, 1965 - WSU takes down No. 2 Michigan, 100-96, at the Roundhouse. Junior Jamie Thompson scores 28 points, making all nine of his shots and all 10 of his free throws. Michigan's Cazzie Russell scores 21.
Dec. 8, 1977 - Michigan State handles the Shockers 84-57 in East Lansing behind Magic Johnson's 20 points, 19 rebounds and nine assists.
Dec. 9, 1978 - Wichita State gives coach Gene Smithson his first victory with a 95-92 win over DePaul at Levitt Arena. The Shockers trail 92-80 with 2:56 to play. Cheese Johnson scores nine of WSU's points in a 15-0 run that ends the game and finishes with 27 points and 13 rebounds. Bob Trogele adds 22 points. DePaul freshman Mark Aguirre makes 17 of 22 shots to score 39 points.
