WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State baseball student-athlete Travis Banwart has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week of March 5-11.

Banwart, a junior from Wichita, Kan., continued his hot streak, winning his fourth-straight start. He earned the win on Saturday against Penn State, who a week ago knocked off No. 1 North Carolina, going seven shutout innings, while giving up five hits and striking out nine.

He allowed just five singles in his seven innings and struck out at least one Penn State hitter in every inning except the fourth. It is his second-straight combined shutout for the Shockers.

In his last four starts, he is 4-0 with a 0.74 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 24.1 innings.

It is Banwart's second career MVC Pitcher-of-the-Week honor.
