TAMPERE, Finland – Taran Taylor finished 13th in group B of the men's javelin qualifying round at the World U20 Championships.
 
Arkansas City, Kan., native Taran Taylor finished 13th in the men's javelin with a mark of 60.36m/197-8. The all-conference athlete fouled on his first attempt, threw 59.23m/194-4 on his second attempt and recorded a mark of 60.36m/197-8 on his final attempt.
 
Athletes with a qualifying performance of 72.00m/236-6, or the 12 best performers advanced the finals on Saturday, July 14 at 7:25 a.m. CT.
 
Team USA teammate Tzuriel Pedigo advanced to the finals with a personal best throw of 73.25m/240-4, Pedigo finished third in Group A of the qualifying round. Nash Lowis of Australia finished with the farthest qualifying throw of 74.38m/244-0, a personal best mark.
