WICHITA, Kan. – Three Wichita State student-athletes are entered in the USATF Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.

The 2018 USATF Outdoor Championships begin Thursday, June 21-24. Shockers competing in the meet include The American's javelin champion
Aaron True, USATF junior national champion
Taran Taylor and four-time MVC conference champion
Rebekah Topham.

Topham kicks off the action for the Shockers, she runs Thursday at 1:50 p.m., in the 3000m steeplechase. The Griswold, Iowa native enters the race No. 21 with a personal best 10:00.98. Topham redshirted and competed unattached during the 2017-18 regular season, recently she finished sixth in the 3000m steeplechase (10:00.98) at the Portland Track Festival High Performance Meet. Topham will be competing in Shocker black and yellow for the first time since redshirting.

True and Taylor enter the men's javelin competition on Saturday at 2:10 p.m., True is ranked No. 4 and Taylor No. 8.

True recently earned second team All-America honors finishing eighth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a throw of 70.26m/230-6. The Leroy, Kan., native continues an impressive 2018 throwing season. The junior has competed in eight meets, finishing top-10 in each one and winning five meets, including the American Athletic Conference championship with a school record throw of 77.49m/254-3. True will be throwing in flight two of the competition.

Taylor continues his impressive freshman season, recently the Arkansas City, Kan., native won the USATF Junior National championship with a throw of 71.08m/233-2, advancing him to the IAAF U20 World Championships in Tampere, Finland on July 19. During the 2018 regular season, Taylor recorded seven top-5 finishes including five-second place finishes. Taylor recorded the second farthest throw in Shocker history on May 13, where he earned all-conference honors finishing second at the American Athletic Conference Championships. He will be throwing in flight two of the competition, along with teammate True.

Two former Shockers enter the USATF Outdoor Championships,
Nikki Larch-Miller and Austin Bahner will compete in the multi-event competition. Bahner enters the decathlon that begins on Thursday with the 100m at 1 p.m., while Larch-Miller enters the heptathlon on Saturday with the 100m hurdles at 10 a.m. Each will be competing for the Santa Barbara Track Club.

During his time as a Shocker, Bahner was a three-time All-American. Since graduating, he was a 2016 Olympic Trials qualifier and a three-time USA Championships competitor as well as a two-time runner-up in the indoor heptathlon. Bahner has represented the United States as a member of four USA National teams. On April 20, he recorded a 2018 season best score of 7,399 finishing eighth at the Azusa Bryan Clay Invitational.
Larch-Miller was a 2017 Wichita State graduate, she finished her career as a three-time All-American and owns the 60m (7.38), 100m (11.38), 100m hurdles (13.08), 200m (22.23), 400m (54.57) and 4x400m (3:39.18) school records. On May 11, she recorded a 2018 season best score of 5,563 finishing second at the Azusa Pacific Twilight.
