WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State baseball student-athlete
Alec Bohm earned his fifth All-America honor of the season as ABCA/Rawlings named him a second team selection.
Bohm, a junior third baseman from Omaha, Neb., hit .339 with 57 runs, 76 hits, 14 doubles, one triple, 16 home runs, 55 RBI, 39 walks and nine stolen bases in 2018.
His 24 multiple-hit games and 10 go-ahead RBI led the Shockers in 2018. He also set a school record with three grand slams in a season.
Bohm's 16 home runs were the most by a Shocker since 2004 and his 16
th home run was his 200
th career hit. Five of his home runs gave the Shockers the lead in a game.
His other All-America honors include a second team selection by Baseball America, a third team selection by NCBWA and D1Baseball and an honorable mention selection by Perfect Game/Rawlings.
He also earned first team all-Midwest Region honors by the ABCA/Rawlings and was a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and the Golden Spikes Award. He earned second team all-conference honors in Wichita State's first season in the American Athletic Conference.
Bohm was the third overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft to the Philadelphia Phillies and was the second-highest position player to be drafted in school history. He was also the highest drafted player in American Athletic Conference history.
