WICHITA, Kan. – Kansas State defeated Wichita State 7-3 in the final home game of the season at Eck Stadium on Tuesday night.
Alec Bohm went 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI, while
Greyson Jenista went 2-for-3 and
Mason O'Brien went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Starter
Tyler Davis went three innings and gave up two runs on four hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
Luke Ritter was hit by a pitch to lead off the first and
Hunter Gibson walked.
Alec Bohm followed with a double to right-center to score Ritter for a 1-0 lead. With two outs,
Mason O'Brien singled to right field to drive in Gibson and Bohm to push the lead to 3-0.
K-State cut into the lead in the third. Will Brennan led off with a single and moved to second on a wild pitch. Hanz Harker's double scored Brennan and Drew Mount's double scored Harker to cut the Shocker lead to 3-2.
The Wildcats took the lead in the fourth. John Sorensen led off with a triple and scored on a single by Dylan Watts to tie the game at three. After a Shocker error and a groundout, Watts scored on a sacrifice fly by Cameron Thompson for the 4-3 lead.
With the bases loaded, Brennan's infield single pushed the Wildcat lead to 5-3 in the fifth and a Harker sac fly gave WSU a 6-3 lead in the eighth. Brennan's sac fly in the ninth made the final score 7-3.
The Shockers wrap up the regular-season May 17-19 at Memphis before heading to Clearwater, Fla., for the American Athletic Conference Baseball Championship, May 22-27.
