CINCINNATI
Aaron True won the javelin breaking the American Athletic Conference meet record, Winny Koskei won the 5000m to earn her second title in three days and Austin Corley ran the seventh fastest time in the nation to win the 400m hurdles.

The Shockers finished with five in the top 10, including True winning the event with a 77.49m/254-2 throw. The junior's mark broke the conference meet record, school record and currently ranks No. 4 in the NCAA's and is the furthest throw by an American in 2018.

True has won his second straight conference javelin title, last year winning the Missouri Valley Conference Championship with a throw of 69.88m/229-3. This marks the fifth consecutive year that a Shocker has won a conference title in the javelin.
 
Freshman Taran Taylor earned all-conference honors finishing second with a personal best throw of 74.26m/243-7, his mark is currently fifth best in the nation and No. 2 on the Shocker all-time list. John Hoplin rounded out the top five with a personal best throw of 68.88m/226-0, Damien Odle placed seventh (66.21m/217-2) and Jeff Ast in ninth (62.03m/203-6).
 
Austin Corley won the 400m hurdles race with a time of 50.07, Corley entered the day ranked No. 38 in the nation and walked away with a title and the seventh fastest time in the nation. For the second straight year Corley has won the conference 400m hurdle title, last year winning the Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
 
Freshman Winny Koskei claimed her second title of the meet winning the 5000m with a time of 16:49.01, Friday night she won the 10,000m. Koskei became the third female Shocker to win both the 5000m and 10,000m title at the same outdoor championships, joining elite company of Tonya Nero (2010) and Aliphine Tuliamuk (2012, 2013).



Multiple Shockers earned all-conference honors, including silver medalist finishers Jared Belardo, Hayden Bugner and Zack Penrod. Belardo placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 15.71m/51-6.5, Bugner cleared a personal best height of 5.15m/16-10.75 to finish second in the pole vault and Penrod finished second in the 1500m race with a time of 4:03.90 to earn all-conference honors.
 
Carlea Miles placed third in the women's javelin with a throw of 49.75m/163-2, Kendra Henry just missed the podium finishing fourth with a personal best throw of 47.71m/156-6.

The men's team placed third with 130 points, 17.5 points behind second place Memphis and 42 points behind 2018 American Athletic Conference champs Houston. The women score 45.5 points to finish ninth.
 
Qualified Shockers will compete at the NCAA West Preliminary on May, 24-26 in Sacramento, Calif. An athlete must be in the top 48 in order to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary.
