WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State completed its roster overhaul with the addition of West Virginia transfer Teddy Allen.

Allen, a 6-foot-5 forward, signed a financial aid agreement Wednesday. He will enroll in summer classes at WSU and have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

As a true freshman at West Virginia, Allen appeared in 35 games and averaged 7.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in just under 12 minutes per game. He scored in double-figures on 13 occasions, including twice during the Mountaineers' run to the Sweet 16.

Originally from Mesa, Ariz., Allen spent his last two high school years in Nebraska playing for head coach Tom Krehbiel at Boys Town High. As a senior, he ranked among the national scoring leaders at 31.6 points per game (Nebraska's highest in over two decades) and was the state's Gatorade High School Player of the Year.

"I can't wait to play for Coach [Gregg] Marshall and be a part of what that program has been the last 10 years," Allen said. "I really like his energy and the enthusiasm that he brings."

For Marshall, the feeling is mutual.

"Teddy is a young man who has shown the ability to score the basketball," Marshall said. "He is a physically strong and tough driver and post-up player who also pounds the offensive glass. He has a relentless work ethic, and we feel his experience playing in the Big 12 will be beneficial to us in practice and ultimately in games."

Allen is WSU's fourth spring signee and one of nine scholarship newcomers who are slated to join the roster in 2018-19.
