DALLAS - Wichita State collected its seventh-straight victory Friday, cruising past SMU, 4-3, at the SMU Tennis Complex.
 
The win marks the first time the Shockers have taken down SMU in school history. The two have met a total of nine times dating back to 1981.
 
In their inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers are 2-0 against American opponents. The Shockers took down Tulsa, 4-3, back on Feb. 19 in Tulsa.
 
DOUBLES
Haru Inoue and Murkel Dellien continue to stay hot as a pair, taking down Charles Nettlefold and Roberto Rosales (6-2) in flight two. With the win, the duo improves to 3-1 on the season and winners of three-straight. Miroslav Herzan and Andrea Caligiana improve to 12-7 in doubles, with a 6-3 win over Jan-Simon Vrbsky and Tomas Vaise in flight one. Eddie Stoica and Andrea Trapani held a 5-4 lead on Eladio Fabregas and Gardiner Perotti in the third flight before going unfinished.
 
SINGLES
SMU got on the board early in singles action, starting on court six. Rosales dropped Caligiana 6-3, 6-3 on court six, ending the freshman's five-match win streak. The Mustangs took the lead with a 7-5, 7-5 win by Nettlefold in flight four over Herzan. Wichita State answered back, when Trapani came away with a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Fabregas on court five to tie the match at two.The win marks six-straight for Trapani. Playing in flight two for just the second time, Dellien was defeated by Vrbsky in straight sets (6-3, 6-4), giving SMU the lead back at 3-2.
 
Inoue recorded his 11th win of the season with a 6-2, 7-5 straight-set victory over Vaise on court one, putting the match even at three. It came down to Frosa in flight three, where he took on the Mustangs' Perotti. Perotti cruised to a 6-3 first set win, while Frosa won three-straight games in the second to force the only three-set match of the evening. The two were deadlocked at one before Frosa went on a run to take down Perotti, 6-3 and seal the victory for the Shockers.
 
Wichita State closes out the regular season with a trip to Des Moines, Iowa to take on Drake on Saturday, April 14 at 10 a.m.
