Shockers Prepared For Quadrangular

WICHITA, Kan. –
 Wichita State is geared for a quadrangular between Kansas State, Nebraska and Texas Tech at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track and Field Complex in Lubbock, Texas on Friday, April 26.
 
The track and field program returns to action a week after dominating the Mule Relays in Warrensburg, Mo. The Shockers won a total of 16 events, including nine on the men's team and seven on the women's side.

In the most recent USTFCCCA men's rankings, Texas Tech rank No. 2, Nebraska No. 27, Wichita State No. 39 and Kansas State No. 51. In the men's rankings, Kansas State rank No. 13, Texas Tech No. 17, Nebraska No. 77 and Wichita State No. 186.
 
The Red Raider Shootout, hosted by Texas Tech, is set to begin Friday, April 26 starting with the field events at 11 a.m., followed by running events at 5:20 p.m.
 
Men
 
Distance
The distance team has athletes entered in the 800m, 1500m, 3000m steeplechase and 5000m. Josh Klein has the 2018 Shockers fastest 3000m (9:09.38) and he will lead the group in the 5000m race. Aaron Miller and Kyle Larkin are entered in the 800m, while Larkin will also compete in the 1500m along with Ethan Kossover. Kossover is the lone Shocker in the 3000m steeplechase. Dray Carson, Ben Flowers, Alex Moen and Klein are all entered in the 5000m.
 
Jumps
The jumps group enters the meet near full strength, Veith leads the group in the long jump with a 2018 team best mark of 7.78m/25-6.25. All-American Jared Belardo and true freshman Rayvon Allen look to record big marks in the event as well. Allen has a Shocker leading mark in the triple jump (15.64m/51-3.75), which is also No. 1 in The American. The Shocks enter four athletes in the high jump. Austin Chippeaux, Miles Griffith and Kole Konrade will lead the group, along with multi-athlete Lucas Shaffer entered in the event.
 
Sprints
Multiple season leaders are entered in their respected events, including four-time All-American Hunter Veith leading seven other Shockers in the 110m hurdles. Indoor 60m school record holder Denvoir Griffin leads the men in the 100m, followed by true freshman Clifford Robinson, Erick Ngaiza and Richard Sandefur. Austin Corley, who has the third fastest time in The American Athletic Conference time in the 400m hurdles (51.25) leads the group of Isaac Poe and Adam Mudge in the event.
 
Throws
Isaiah Evans leads the throws group going into the meet this week, the junior college transfer leads the Shockers in two events with season best marks in the discus (47.26m/155-1) and hammer (57.83m/189-9). The majority of the No. 1 javelin group will take the week off, freshman Davon Spexarth will lead the Shocks at the Red Raider Shootout. Jeff Ast is the lone Shocker entered in all four throws events, including his team leading mark of 14.09m/46-2.75 in the shot put.
 
Women
Distance
Emma Stamm leads the Shockers in the 2018 campaign with a time of 2:22.61 in the 800m and is entered in the event along with Kelsey Lathrop. Three Shocks enter the 1500m, including McKenna Paintin, Kendra Schoening and Suzie Wright. Tangy Wiseman is the lone Shocker entered in the 3000m steeplechase, she has a personal best time of 11:37.26 in the event. Competing in the 5000m will be Katie Cumpston, Jordan Maestas and Deidra Walker.
 
Jumps
A week after setting a personal best and cracking the Shocker top-10 all-time list, Katie Murray leads the women in the high jump. Meghan Holmes has Shocker season leading marks in both the long jump (5.68m/18-7.75) and triple jump (12.18m/39-11.5), she's entered in both events along with Skaila White. Multi-athletes Kendra Henry and Carlea will enter both the long jump and high jump.
 
Sprints
Paula Garcia leads the sprints group into the Red Raider Shootout, she's recorded the teams fastest times in the 100m (11.74) and 200m (24.71). Garcia is entered in both events along with Deja Young. In the hurdles, Alexi Whatley is the lone Shocker entered in both the 100m and 400m hurdles. Sarah Hines enters the 100m hurdles along with multi-athletes Henry and Miles.
 
Throws
The throws group is competing near full strength with a season leader competing in three of the four throws events, Meagan Williams is the lone season leader (hammer throw) resting. Carlea Miles leads the No. 14 javelin group in the country with a season best 47.68m/156-5 throw. Leading the women in the shot put is school record holder Kelsey Slawson. Also entered in the event include Cassidy Androff, Tyra Bickham, and Amanda Kakoulias. Bickham leads the group in the discus with a team best 51.28m/169-3 throw. Amanda Kakoulias is the lone Shocker competing in all four throws events.
