WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State track and field program will travel to Warrensburg, Mo., Friday, April 20 to compete in the Mule Relays hosted by Central Missouri.
 
A week after hosting the K.T. Woodman the Shockers are back in action and are sending 69 student-athletes to compete at the Mule Relays. Originally the Shockers were scheduled to compete in Norman, Okla., at the John Jacobs Invitational.
 
"We had to decide to not go to Oklahoma on Saturday," said head track and field directory Steve Rainbolt. "We pulled the trigger and made the decision when the forecast was 80% chance of thunderstorms and after we pulled that trigger it went to 90%. I feel like we made the right decision, I would hate to go down there and sit around inside the indoor facility waiting out storm delays."
 
After having to cancel more than half of the K.T. Woodman Classic on April 14, this will be the first time for a majority of the sprinters to compete since the Emporia State Relays on March 31.

Field events begin with the hammer throw at 1 p.m., and the running events start with the 110m hurdles at 4 p.m.
 
Men
The javelin group, No. 1 in the nation, takes a near to full squad to the meet. American Athletic Conference field athlete of the week Aaron True leads the group with a season best throw of 72.05m/236-5. A week after setting two personal best marks in 40 degree weather, Isaiah Evans looks to continue improving on his 2018 campaign as he is entered in the discus and hammer throws. The No. 3 long jump group of Rayvon Allen, Jared Belardo, Kaden Griffin and Hunter Veith each will rest in that event as they prepare for the Red Raider Shoot-Out in Lubbock, Texas on April 27-28. The distance group that had multiple personal best at the K.T. Woodman enters six athletes in the 1500m. The Shocks enter three athletes in the high jump competition, which is ranked No. 10 in the nation. Indoor all-conference athlete Hayden Bugner leads the pole group of Eric Etie, Zach Kudlinski and Hunter Veith.
 
Women
The Shockers 100m and 200m season leader Paula Garcia is back in action this week after not competing last week, she is entered in both events and the 4x100m, along with All-American Deja Young and Natalie Halfman. Sarah Hines will be apart of the 4x100m team as well, she also is entered in the 100m hurdles and 200m. A week after running in frigid weather, the majority of the distance team is back in action. Kelsey Slawson and Tyra Bickham continue to lead the throws group, both are entered in the shot put and discus. The No. 12 ranked javelin group in the country will enter five athletes in the event, excluding leader Carlea Miles. Miles and redshirt freshman Kendra Henry are resting after complete the K.T. Woodman Classic Multi last Wednesday and competing in the javelin last Friday. After sitting the indoor season, Alesa Frey competes in her second meet in as many weeks. Her personal best of 4.06m/13-3.75 is No. 5 on the Shocker all-time list.
