COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Multiple Shocker athletes set personal records, including redshirt freshman
Kendra Henry in three events of the pentathlon.

Day one of the Air Force Combined Events Meet concluded with the finish of the women's pentathlon and the men's 60m, long jump, shot put and high jump portion of the heptathlon. The Shockers entered eight athletes in the multi-event competition, including seven who finished the day with a personal record.

Henry who set a personal best in the high jump, shot put, long jump and the pentathlon led the women.
Carlea Miles highlight of the day came when she finished second in the shot put with a mark of 11.92m/39-1.5.

"Kendra had a nice personal record in the pentathlon and a strong third place finish," head track and field director
Steve Rainbolt said. "The altitude was challenging in the 800m but she competed well in the other four events."

On the men's side, seven athletes set a total of 11 personal records, including four in the high jump. The Shockers started strong with
Kaden Griffin winning the 60m in 7.04, followed by
Ben Johnson and
Jake Horsch finishing second with a time of 7.15. Griffin's success carried into the long jump where he placed second with a mark of 6.98m/22-11. Johnson won the shot put event with a mark of 13.92m/45-8.25. Johnson finished day one in first with 3,064 points, followed by Griffin in second with 3,037 points.

"Our men had a very nice day with lots of personal records across the board and each of them are in position to go for a strong run at personal records in the heptathlon," Rainbolt said. "Overall, I was very pleased with how today went."

Day two of the Air Force Combined Events Meet continues Friday, Jan. 19 starting with the conclusion of the men's heptathlon at 12:00 p.m. CT, followed by the Air Force Team Challenge at 5:00 p.m. CT.
