WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State women's golf team heads east for the Missouri State Payne Stewart Memorial, the second tournament of the fall slate, held Monday through Tuesday Sept. 11-12.
Fresh from a second place finish at the Lady Maxwell Cup last weekend, the Shockers will be one of a 15 strong field that includes previous Missouri Valley Conference foes Missouri State, Drake and Creighton. After a run of three straight years competing, this will be the first time the Shockers have returned to the MSU Payne Stewart Memorial since fall 2014 in which former player turned assistant coach
Alejandra Arellano finished tied for 20th. The 2013 squad finished second with the 2012 team finishing fourth.
Taryn Torgerson, who matched her career low-18 hole record last week with 67, will be part of the five person team that will also include
Gavrilla Arya,
Laine Evans,
Michelle Ledermann and
Taylor BeDell.
Abbi Shaddix and
Annika Chickering will both be competing individually.
Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield, Mo., will host the two day event with the the opening 36 holes beginning on Monday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m. in a shotgun format. The final 18 holes will wrap up the tournament on Tuesday, again beginning at 8:30 a.m. in a shotgun format with pairings to be announced. No live scoring will be available with results announced at the conclusion of the days play.
