WICHITA, Kan. — Haru Inoue finished the Laguna Niguel Futures event with a 3-1 record after falling short in the finals Monday afternoon in Laguna Niguel, Calif.
Inoue went the distance with Samir Iftikhar in the first set, falling just short 7-6. Iftikhar, from Pakistan, took the second set from Inoue, 6-1 to reach the main draw.
Inoue finished the tournament with a 3-1 record, defeating Bradley Frye of Overland Park, Kan. in the opening round 6-2, 6-2. In the second round, Inoue finished off Sean Robles in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. To advance to the finals, Inoue knocked of Ku Keon Kang of South Korea in the first set 6-2 before Kang had to retire due to injury.
The Shockers will next be in action Sept. 30 – Oct. 9 at the ITA All-American Championships at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Center.
