JOPLIN, Mo. – Wichita State's men's cross country team finished with five Shockers in the top 15 to win the Southern Stampede in Joplin, Mo., hosted by Missouri Southern State University.
Senior
Nathan Wickoren led the team finishing the 8K in third place with a time of 24:44.33 and
Joe Harter rounded out the top five with a time of 24:49.05.
Zack Penrod ran 24:56.22 to finish eighth,
Gage Garcia finished 12th with a time of 25:05.18 and
Austin Sturdy ran 25:09.98 to place 15th.
On the women's side, the Shockers finished fourth overall behind Dallas Baptist, Oklahoma Baptist and first place Tulsa.
Freshman
Winny Koskei led the Shockers finishing third with a time of 17:18.59,
Gabriela Reyna placed 31st with a time of 18:11.74. Fellow freshman
Yazmine Wright ran the 5K in 18:13.39 to finish 32nd and senior
Jordan Maestas finished 39th with a time of 18:16.62.
Wichita State is next in action Sept. 29 at the Notre Dame/Joe Piane Invitational in South Bend, Ind., and Sept. 30 at the Rim Rock Classic in Lawrence, Kan.
