HUNTINGTON, W.V. - With rain stopping play in the third and final round,
Gage Ihrig took the runner-up position at the Joe Feaganes Invite behind a a career low-18 in the opening round of play.
The senior from Goodland, Kan., fresh from winning the Kansas Amateur Championship this summer, finished the opening day 9-under par after carding 66 and 67 through each of the two rounds to end the tournament at 133.
Conrad Walcher finished the tournament tied for 39th after carding 2-over par 73's in each round of play, good for 146 overall and 4-over par.
Yannik Emmert finished a further stroke behind Walcher with 147 after carding a 7-over 78 and 2-under 69 to finish tied for 48th.
Erik Angesten finished two strokes behind at 149, ending the tournament tied for 58th while
Kale Reynolds finished in 78th position behind opening round scores of 78 and 75.
Palmer Hays, competing individually, finished tied for 66th, 8-over par after carding a 5-over 76 and and 3-over 74 in each round.
As a team the Shockers finished tied for seventh behind scores of 291 and 284, good for 575 and 7-over par. Dayton won the tournament after carding 562 while host school Marshall finished second with 563. Eastern Kentucky rounded out the top three with 565.
The men are back in action Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 18-19, at the Ram Masters Invite in Fort Collins, Colo.
