Bahner Seventh, Henry 10th After Day One

SACRAMENTO  --  Austin Bahner is seventh, and Kendra Henry 10th, after the first day of multis competition at the USATF Outdoor Championships and Junior Championships, respectively, on Thursday.

Henry, collected 2,433 Heptathlon points on the first day in four events, the 100 meter hurdles (16.62), the high jump (4-11/1.50m), the shot put (37-6.75/11.45m) and the 200 meters (29.10). The Heptathlon continues Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.

Former Shocker All-American and current volunteer assistant coach Austin Bahner was in seventh after five events in the Decathlon with 3,991 points after the 100 meters (10.80), the long jump (24-3.75/7.41m), the shot put (43-8.5/13.32m), the high jump (6-0/1.83m) and the 400 meters (49.63). The Decathlon continues with the 100 meter hurdles, the discus, pole vault, the javelin and the 1,500 meters.

Austin Corley begins competition in the 400 meter hurdles Friday night.

Corley has the 25th-best time in the field of 28 hurdlers at 50.59, while the leader, Kerron Clement of NIKE has a 47.74. Prelims begin at 8:40p.m., Friday night.

Coming into the meet, Henry's 4,260 points was the 10th-best point total of the field of 12 Heptathletes, while Bahner's total of 7,850 points was the seventh-best in the field of 18 Decathletes. Zachery Ziemek of adidas ranked first with 8,413 points.
