DBU Takes Finale, 10-9

DALLAS, Texas – Dallas Baptist won the three-game series with a back-and-forth 10-9 win in game three over Wichita State.
 
Jordan Boyer went 1-for-4 with three RBI and a double, while Dayton Dugas went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a double and a home run.
 
Starter Robby Evans went 2.2 innings and gave up four earned runs on seven hits with no walks and one strikeout.
 
The Shockers scored in the first inning for the third-straight day. Alex Jackson led off with a double and moved to third on a groundout from Greyson Jenista. With two outs, Willie Schwanke came through with a single off the pitcher to score Jackson and Noah Croft singled to centerfield and Schwanke scored on a Patriot error for a 2-0 lead.
 
The Patriots answered in the bottom of the first. Jameson Hannah led off with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly from Devlin Granberg to cut the lead to 2-1. Matt Duce doubled with two outs and Camden Duzenack followed with a home run to give the Patriots a 3-2 lead.
 
WSU jumped back in front in the second. Luke Ritter led off with a walk and Dayton Dugas followed with a home run to give the Shockers a 4-3 lead.
 
Schwanke reached on an error to lead off the third and with one out Trey Vickers and Ritter both singled to load the bases. With two outs, Jordan Boyer doubled down the left field line to unload the bases and put the Shockers up 7-3.
 
Again the Patriots answered. DBU used two home runs, two singles and a Shocker error to score five in the third and take an 8-7 lead and added one more in the fourth.
 
Jenista's RBI double cut the lead to 9-8 in the sixth, but the Patriots got the run back in the bottom half for a 10-8 lead. Alec Bohm's solo home run in the ninth made the final score 10-9.
 
The Shockers are next in action on Tue., May 9 when they host Oral Roberts at 6 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
