Shockers Heading to Austin for NCAA Regional

WICHITA, Kan. -
The Wichita State men's golf team has been selected as the 13 seed at the Austin, Texas, NCAA Regional site held May 15-17 as they look to earn the ninth NCAA Championship appearance in school history.

Ranked 113th overall in NCAA golf, the Shockers are one of 14 teams that are looking to earn one of five automatic bids to the final site with the low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional advancing to the finals. 

Wichita State is one of five conference champions at the Austin site which will include No. 3 Oklahoma State, alongside regional host and Big 12 Conference champion Texas. Wake Forest is the No. 2 seed with Mississippi and Arizona State ranked No. 4 and No. 5. In-state rivals Kansas is also in the regional field along with Iowa State, North Carolina State, Liberty and Georgia Southern. The College of Charleston, McNeese State and Saint Peter's make up the rest of the field after winning its respective conference titles. 

81 teams will participate over the six regional sites with 30 teams advancing alongside 45 individuals. The final site for the NCAA Championship will be in Sugar Grove, Ill., at Rich Harvest Farms golf club May 26-31 hosted by Northern Illinois University.
