AUSTIN, Texas -- Nine Wichita State student-athletes competed Saturday, and 25 overall in three days, at the West Preliminary Championships competition of the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. WSU ended the Shockers' hopes of adding to its NCAA finals qualifying list with no new qualifiers.
With no new qualifiers, the four Shocker multi-athletes (Hunter
Veith,
Breanne Borman,
Gavyn Yetter,
Nikki Larch-Miller) will compete at the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 7-10 in Eugene, Oregon.
For the Shockers on Saturday:

Austin Chippeaux was 29th and
Garret Lynch was 33rd with a height of 6-8.75/2.05 as Chippeaux had fewer misses in the high jump.

Meghan Holmes finished 39th and
Courtney Mills was 41st with distances of 39-7.25/12.07m and 38-11.75/11.88m, respectively in the triple jump.
-WSU's women's 4x100 meter relay team did not finish due to injury.

Nikki Larch-Miller finished 14th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.29, while
Taylor Larch-Miller ran a 13.35.

Rebekah Topham finished 18th overall in the 5k with a time of 16:53.72 to finish the West Prelims for the Shockers.
On Friday, Austin
Corley placed
22nd in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 51.70, while Hayden
Bugner was
32nd in the pole vault with a
hieght of 16-4.75/5.00m. Zach
Loesch was
31st in the shot put with a toss of 55-8.25/16.97.
For the women on Friday, Nikki and
Taylor Larch-Miller ran the 100 meter hurdles and qualified for Saturday's quarterfinals with times of 13.42 and 13.49. In the discus, Tyra
Bickham was
43rd in the discus with a throw of 155-6/47.39m.
On Thursday,
Corley advanced to the Friday quarterfinals in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 51.69.
Isaac Poe was
41st with a 53.81. Hunter
Veith was
27th in the long jump with a distance of 24-7/7.49m.
On Friday for the women,
Nikki Larch-Miller ran a 11.61 in the 100 meters,
Sidney Hirsch ran the 10k in 36:14.09 and Claudia
Rojo ran the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:00.37 but did not advance.
Jamesia Milton was
34th in the hammer throw with a toss of 185-11/56.67m, while
Alesa Frey no-heighted in the pole vault.
Carlea Holt-Miles finished
27th in the javelin (145-9/44.43m) and
Breanne Borman was
43rd with a throw of 133-1/40.56m.
For the men,
Michael Wells ran a personal best of 10.32 in the 100 meters to finish 29th, while
Ugis Jocis ran a 3:56.98 to finish 25th. In the javelin,
Aaron True was 15th with a throw of 215-7/65.70m and
John Hoplin was
22nd with a throw of 207-6/63.25m.
