WICHITA, Kan. – Senior Katie Malone allowed just one hit after the second inning, as the Shockers came from behind to take down Tulsa for the second time this season, by a score of, 2-1.
 
Malone threw her 14th complete game of the year as she struck out four batters and allowed just one run in the first inning, which was unearned to collect her 18th win of the year.
 
Tulsa was able to strike first after reaching on an error and later coming around to score on a sacrifice fly from Maddie Withee.
 
In the second inning, after Malone collected two quick outs, the Golden Hurricane got the bases loaded but were unable to score after a groundout to third ended the inning.
 
Both teams were quiet until the sixth inning. Ashley Johnson reached first on a fielding error from the second baseman, then moved to second on a throwing error from the second baseman. Mackenzie Wright then put down a perfect sacrifice bunt to move Johnson to third.
 
After a single from Kelli Spring scored the tying run, Madison Perrigan hit a line drive off of the pitcher's head moving Spring to third with one out. After a pitching change, Laurie Derrico swung at the first pitch and singled into left field to give WSU a 2-1 lead.
 
Malone finished off the game with a groundout to short and two fly-outs to left to give Wichita State their sixth consecutive win over Tulsa, winning by a score of 2-1.
 
The Shockers are now 20-13 overall and will continue conference play as they travel to Peoria, Ill., to play a three-game series against Bradley beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
