WICHITA, Kan. - Over 50 Wichita State baseball alumni, including nine former Major Leaguers, attended the first Legends Weekend at Eck Stadium over the weekend.
The event honored the alumni on the field between Friday's doubleheader that also featured a special video message from Hall of Fame coach Gene Stephenson, who coached the Shockers from 1978-2013. Stephenson was unable to attend the event because he was in Columbia, Mo., being honored at a reunion of Missouri's Big 8 Championship team.Â
On Saturday, there was a College World Series pennant giveaway to the first 1,200 fans in attendance. Fans were also able to take their photo for the first time with the 1989 National Championship trophy.
