Final Results
NORMAN, Okla. --Â Wichita State's men's and women's team each finished third overall while three individuals (
Sidney Hirsch,
Taylor Larch-Miller,
Zach Loesch) won event titles at the 48th OU/John Jacobs Track and Field Invitational at the Jacobs Track and Field Complex.
WSU scored 140.5 points on the women's side to finish third of nine teams, while the men scored 109.5 points to finish third of seven. Nebraska was first in the men's (248) competition and Oklahoma was second with 176 points. In women's scoring, OU and Nebraska tied for first with 191.5 points. Nebraska is ranked No. 18 in the country in the men's ranking.
Sidney Hirsch won the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:34.16,
Taylor Larch-Miller won the 100 meter hurdles in 13.60 and
Zach Loesch won the shot put with a personal best throw of 58-1/17.70m.
In addition,
Michael Wells ran the 100 meters in a personal best and sixth-best all-time WSU time of 10.37 as the second-best University competitor in the event. WSU's 4x400 meter women's relay team also finished second with a time of 3:43.51.
On Friday night, WSU took runner-up honors in four of the six events contested.
Rebekah Topham was second in the 1,500 meters (4:27.65) and
Jamesia Milton was second in the hammer throw (185-8/56.59m), while
Emilea Finley (17:22.20) and
Kyle Larkin (15:16.56) were second in their respective 5,000 meter races. In addition,
Ugis Jocis was third in the 1,500 meters.
