WICHITA, Kan. -- Shockers
Nikki Larch-Miller led the Heptathlon and
Kaden Griffin led the Decathlon after the first day of the K.T. Woodman Multi-Events Tuesday afternoon.
Larch-Miller scored 3,340 points on day one with a 13.62 in the 100 meter hurdles, a height of 5-3.25/1.61m in the high jump, a distance of 37-1/11.30m in the shot put and a 24.37 in the 200 meters.
Griffin led the Decathlon with 3,855 points halfway through the 10 events. He opened the day with a 10.85 in the 100 meters and then long jumped 23-4/7.12m. He put the shot 39-5.25/12.02m and high jumped 6-0/1.83m before closing the day with a 49.08 in the 400 meters.
In the Heptathlon,
Martiesha Caines was second after the first day with 3,225 points,
Breanne Borman was third with 3,193, and
Gavyn Yetter was fourth with 3,100 points. Also for WSU,
Sydney Wilson was seventh with 2,813 and Carlea Miles was ninth with 2,684.
In the Decathlon, competing unattached,
Jake Horsch was second with 3,534, and former Shocker Tobias Boese was third with 3,441 points for the Shocker Track Club.

John Nicholas was fourth with 3,246 points.
The meet continues Wednesday with the Decathlon at 10:30 a.m., and the Heptathlon at 11:45 a.m. The Decathlon with compete the 110 meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500 meters on Wednesday, while the Hepathlon will finish with the long jump, javelin and 800 meter run.
The Shocker Pre-State Challenge starts Thursday night with high school field events at 5 p.m., and the High School Distance Carnival at 6:30 p.m. The Pre-State continues Friday with running events beginning at 9:30 a.m.
On Friday evening, the K.T. Woodman continues with the Collegiate Distance Carnival at 6 p.m., and then on Saturday with running events at 10:30 a.m., and field events at 11 a.m.
