WICHITA, Kan. -- Four Shocker athletes set personal bests against tough competition at the Texas Relays and Stanford Invitational Thursday and Friday, while the majority of the team will compete on Saturday at the Emporia State Relays.
Late Friday night,
Sidney Hirsch ran the third-fastest 10,000 meter time in school history at Stanford with a 34:37.87.
Ugis Jocis, also competing at Stanford, finished eighth with a 3:45.62 in the second section of the 1,500 meters, while
Rebekah Topham was third in her section of the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 10:25.89.
Also on Friday
Zack Penrod set a personal best in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:47.59 which gave him a third-place finish in his section at Stanford. On Thursday,
Kelsey Tenbrink set a personal record in the javelin with a throw of 142-3/43.36m at Texas while
Nathan Wickoren ran a personal best 9:24.41 in the steeplechase to finish 10th.
On Friday night in Stanford,
Rebekah Topham was third in third in her section in the steeplechase with a 10:25.89. Penrod and
Ugis Jocis were still to run the 1,500 meters later Friday at Stanford.
On Friday in Texas,
Aaron True threw the javelin 211-11/64.59m to finish ninth.
On Thursday,
Carlea Holt-Miles was 10th in the javelin at Texas with a throw of 151-7/46.21m, while Kelsey Slwason was sixth in the B-Shot Put with a throw of 45-6.25/13.87m. In addition,
Andrea Navarro was eighth in the B-Javelin with a throw of 140-4/42.79m.
Jamesia Milton was 12th in the hammer throw with a toss of 182-7/55.65m. Also at Texas,
Tyler Knight and
Hayden Bugner both pole-vaulted 16-2.25/4.91m.
