WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State baseball student-athlete
Luke Ritter has been named a Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, presented by Enterprise Bank and Trust Company, for the week of March 13-19.
Ritter, a sophomore infielder from Overland Park, Kan., led the Shockers to three wins last week. He went 9-for-19 (.474) with four runs, two doubles, a home run and four RBI. He also had a perfect fielding percentage in 16 total chances and had a .565 on base percentage. He collected multiple hits in four of the five games including going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a double in game one against Northern Colorado and 2-for-5 with two runs in game two against the Bears. He went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a double and a home run in game one at Cal Poly and 2-for-4 in game two.
Ritter has a 3.24 cumulative grade point average in finance.
To qualify for Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
