FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Ugis Jocis won the Invitational Mile at the Arkansas Tyson Indoor Track and Field meet, and
Hunter Veith won the long jump at the Pitt State Gorilla Invitational Friday, to highlight the Shockers' indoor track and field day.
Jocis ran the mile in a time of 4:05.20, while teammate
Zack Penrod was second in a time of 4:06.89.
Also at Arkansas,
Emilea Finley was third, and
Savannah Wright-Fox was fourth, in the Mile Invitational in times of 4:59.77 and 5:00.49, respectively.
Jamesia Milton turned in a fifth-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 62-4/19.00m.
Wichita State's track and field teams were also competing at the Pitt State Gorilla Invitational on Friday where
Hunter Veith won the long jump with a distance of 24-1/7.34m.
In other action in Pittsburg, the men's distance medley relay was second in a time of 10:07.34. In the women's long jump,
Nikki Larch-Miller was fourth with a jump of 18-6.5/5.65m.
Taylor Larch-Miller had the second-fastest time in the 200 meters at 24.46.
Jon Duvall had the best qualifying time in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.38 while
Ben Johnson had the third-fastest at 8.46.
Austin Corley finished second in the 600 yard run in a time of 1:13.01.
Both meets continue on Saturday.
