Day One Results
 
TULSA, Okla. – The Wichita State women's golf team sits in fifth position after the opening two rounds of the Bob Hurley ORU Shootout led by solid performances from last year's standout stars Gavrilla Arya and Taryn Torgerson.
 
The Shockers finished the day 53-over par on the tough Meadowbrook Country Club course after shooting 313 in the first round. The women then upped their game slightly, carding 308 in the second round for a team total of 621.

Last season's Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year, Gavrilla Arya, led the Shockers tying for 12th individually after shooting 9-over par through the first two rounds. Arya carded 76 and 75 to finish at a total of 151. Arya had four birdies through the opening 36 holes.

Taryn Torgerson wasn't far behind her teammate after finishing tied for 17th. Torgerson shot 74 through the first 18 and 78 through the second for a total of 152. After a solid opening 18 holes, Torgerson faltered in the back 18 with five bogeys and one double bogey to end the day at 10-over par, just one stroke behind Arya.
 
Annika Chickering, Laine Evans and Maria Villalobas finished the day all tied for 56th place. Chickering shot 83 and 78 through rounds one and two, Evans 84 and 77 with Villalobas carding 80 and 81. All three finished at 11-over par with a total of 161.
 
Lamar heads the leaderboard after shooting a team total of 599. They were the only school to finish with a team score under 300 after shooting 298 in the first 18. Host Oral Roberts ended the day seven strokes behind in second place with a team total of 605, 37-over par. Stephen F. Austin rounded out the top three with 613, 45-over par.
 
Play concludes tomorrow with the final 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
