Shocker Open Results
WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita State's
Damien Odle set the school record in the men's javelin Friday afternoon in the Shocker Open to highlight the day's events.
Odle's throw of 240-8 /73.36m is the best in Shocker history, passing Trent Mazanec's distance of 238-1/72.56m set in 2010. Odle, a junior transfer from Cowley County CC who hails from Greensburg, Kan., improved his personal best by 19 feet. Last week, he threw 221-5/67.48m at the Rock Chalk Classic which was seventh all-time at WSU at the time.
His throw is also 16th-best overall in the NCAA and 10th-best in the NCAA West Region.
Other champions on the day for the Shockers included:
WomenRaianna Maples won the 100 meters in a time of 11.92.
Taylor Larch-Miller won the 400 meters in a time of 55.28.
Kendra Schoening won the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:53.62.
Emily Doffing won the 100 meter hurdles in a personal best time of 14.07.
Taylor Thomas won the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:01.14.
Ashley Petersen won the high jump with a height of 5-7.75/1.72m.
Marteshia Caines won the long jump with a personal best distance of 18-4.25/5.59m.
Taylor Swanson won the pole vault with a height of 13-2.25/4.02m.
Annette Hodges won the triple jump with a distance of 39-5.25/12.02m.
Kelsey Slawson won the shot put with a personal best distance of 47-4.50/14.44m.
Jamesia Milton won the hammer throw with a distance of 184-10.5/56.34m.
Madelyn Halstead won the javelin with a personal best distance of 144-5/44.01m.
MenKaden Griffin won the 400 meters with a personal best time of 48.35.
Garret Lynch won the high jump with a height of 6-11/2.11m.
Nathan Wickoren won the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:58.39.
Jon Martin won the 400 meter hurdles in a personal best time of 53.91.
Chris Peters won the pole vault with a height of 16-1.25/4.91m.
Tate Annis won the long jump with a distance of 23-4.5/7.12m.
Kaden Griffin won the triple jump with a distance of 48-5.25/14.76m.
Skylar Arneson won the shot put with a distance of 56-3.75/17.16m.
Weston Cottrell won the hammer throw with a distance of 209-5.25/63.83m.
Damien Odle won the javelin with a school-record distance of 240-8.5/73.36m.
Wichita State also recognized its seniors competing in their last home meet while several more set personal records in their last home competition in Cessna Stadium.
The Shockers are next in action at the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Championship, May 13-15, in Terre Haute, Ind., at the Gibson Track and Field Complex.
